What is USB Type-C?
USB Type-C (also called USB-C) is a new USB connector that supports higher power-current transfer and faster data transfer via a small connector type that is about the same size as a micro-USB connector. This allows super-fast charging of devices with a small, easy-to-carry cable that can also serve as a data transfer cable. The USB-C standard also features reversible plug orientation and cable direction—it doesn’t matter which end of the cable or which side of the connector you connect, the USB-C cable and ports work properly either way. Does USB-C work differently than USB-A?USB-C is capable of transferring data and power in either direction between two connected devices. When the devices are first connected together they ‘negotiate’ with each other to determine which device supplies power and which one receives power. Because of this, it is important that you observe the numbered steps found in the quick-start guide and online user guide when connecting the powerstation USB-C battery to your devices. Can I charge my USB-C laptop from the powerstation USB-C battery? The powerstation USB-C made for smartphones does not support the USB PD (Power Delivery) Specification that offers the increased power levels necessary to effectively charge a USB-C laptop. Once I connect my device to the powerstation USB-C battery, how do I start charging? After connecting your device to the powerstation USB-C battery’s USB-C or USB-A port according to the numbered steps in the quick-start guide and online user manual, press the battery’s status indicator button for two seconds to begin charging. Can the powerstation USB-C battery charge multiple devices at once?Yes, you can use the powerstation USB-C battery’s USB-C and USB-A ports at the same time and charge two devices. Connect the devices according to the numbered steps in the quick-start guide and online user guide, then press the battery’s status indicator button for two seconds to begin charging. Can I recharge the powerstation USB-C battery from a computer’s USB port?A computer’s USB port may not effectively recharge the powerstation USB-C battery. To recharge we recommend connecting the powerstation USB-C battery’s USB-C port to a power source with a USB-C or USB-A out, like the wall charger included with your USB-C device. Will the powerstation USB-C battery charge my smartphone? The powerstation USB-C battery will charge a USB-C smartphone at super-fast speeds—up to 3 amps (15W fast charge) via the USB-C port. The battery also has a USB-A output port (up to 2.1 amps) that is compatible with just about any smartphone, tablet or other USB device. For example, the powerstation USB-C battery can provide up to 48 additional hours of video playback for an iPhone 6s. Can I charge my tablet from the powerstation USB-C battery?Sure. The powerstation USB-C battery can provide up to 14 additional hours of video playback for an iPad mini 4. Can I charge my device while recharging the powerstation USB-C battery (Priority+ pass-through charging)?Yes. When you’re recharging your powerstation USB-C battery (via its USB-C port), Priority+ pass-through charging first provides power to a device connected to the USB-A port before the powerstation USB-C battery starts to recharge. Connect the battery’s USB-C port to the wall adapter first, then connect your device to the battery’s USB-A port and press the battery’s status indicator button for two seconds to begin charging. Why aren’t the LEDs blinking while my powerstation USB-C battery is charging? After connecting the powerstation USB-C battery’s USB-C port to a power source, the LED status indicators will start blinking to indicate charging. The lights will turn off after 30 seconds allowing for a good night’s rest. Remember to check the status indicator before you disconnect. When all four LEDs are lit, your powerstation USB-C battery is fully charged. How many times can I recharge my powerstation USB-C battery? You can recharge your powerstation USB-C battery for over 500 full cycles. A full cycle is when you recharge the battery from 0% to 100%. Partial cycles, like charging from 25% to 100%, will not count as a full cycle until all of the partials equal 100%. After 500 full cycles, the powerstation USB-C battery may provide less than 75% of its original capacity. This is normal for any product with a lithium polymer battery.
